IMI Skills Competitions National Qualifiers 2025

Verity Moring |

For the second year running, Eyebox were pleased to host the Automotive Body Repair and Automotive Refinishing streams of the 2025 IMI Skills Competition National Qualifiers 14th-16th May.

Each day saw 6 competitors per category competing for a place in the final for Team UK. A total of 36 apprentices competed over the three days, and the levels of talent, dedication, and hard work was remarkable to see. The results from each day are added up and the top six points scorers will win a place at the finals.

It was amazing to see the competition take place and feel the buzz in the air every day. We were thrilled to see so many people show up to watch and support the competitors which added to the atmosphere on the day. We send our congratulations and best wishes to all the competitors and we hope they enjoyed the experience of competing to the best of their ability at Eyebox.

Andrew Moring, Marketing Director for Morelli Group says,

“We have been longterm supporters of WorldSkills UK since 2011 and we are delighted to be hosting the IMI’s Skills Competitions National Qualifiers at Eyebox for the second consecutive year. Last year was the first time that the Body Repair and Refinishing competitions were able to take place in the same location. Eyebox gives us the opportunity to replicate a real life bodyshop environment for the competitors, hopefully aiding the apprentices as they learn. We are very proud to give back to our sector by supporting colleges, apprentices, and young new talent seeking employment in our rewarding industry."

A huge thank you to generous headline sponsors, Milwaukee, and lead sponsors for Body Repair, FMG Repair Services. We're also grateful to fantastic supporters: CAR-O-LINER, 3M, SATA, BASF/Glasurit and Indasa Abrasives.

The board of judges included Daryl Head, Michael Massey, Linzi Mason, Victoria Steele, Jason Evans, Peter Gibbons, Lee Carr, Daniel Sweet, Ben King, Allan Wareing, Will Callaghan, Paul Heale, Jason Embery, and Adrian Stevenson. Thank you for your time and expertise.

It has been a pleasure to host you all as we witness the up and coming young talent in the industry. We are proud to be supporters of these events for the youth and future of automotive. Good luck to those that progress to the finals!
